INTRODUCTION:

Iberville Parish has an extensive Mosquito Abatement Program. Two of the top priorities of this program are the weekly spraying throughout the parish, and the daily trapping for future testing of mosquitoes. With trapping being performed three days of the week, the samples collected are brought to the LSU Diagnostic Lab for the testing of West Nile Virus, Saint Louis Encephalitis, and Eastern Equine Encephalitis. These services, along with public education efforts, assist in the prevention of these mosquito-borne diseases, plus others, such as Yellow Fever, Dengue, and Malaria.
