PUBLIC HEARING, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2005
PROPOSED ORDINANCES
The Parish Council of Iberville Parish, State of Louisiana, held a Public Hearing in the Council Meeting Room, 58050 Meriam Street, Plaquemine, Louisiana, on the 20th day of December, 2005, at 6:00 P.M. pursuant to a Notice of Public Hearing published on 12/15/05 in the Post South.
Council Chairman, Eugene P. Stevens, Jr. called the hearing to order.
The Chairman introduced the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE 1
ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY WITHIN THE PARISH OF IBERVILLE, STATE OF LOUISIANA, EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2006, OF A ONE PERCENT (1%) SALES AND USE TAX UPON THE SALE AT RETAIL, THE USE, THE LEASE OR RENTAL, THE CONSUMPTION, AND THE STORAGE FOR USE OR CONSUMPTION, OF TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY AND UPON THE SALE OF SERVICES IN SAID PARISH, PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT, COLLECTION, PAYMENT THEREOF AND THE DEDICATION OF THE PROCEEDS OF SAID TAX AND THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH THE PROCEEDS OF THE TAX MAY BE EXPENDED, SUCH TAX HAVING BEEN AUTHORIZED AT A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE PARISH ON JULY 16, 2005
Mr. Edward Songy read the ordinance in entirety.
The floor was opened to comments and questions. Questions from the council were addressed by Mr. Songy.
The Chairman introduced the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE 2
ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF ST. GABRIEL FOR A PRO RATA DISTRIBUTION OF SHARING OF TWO-THIRD OF A PERCENT SALES AND USE TAX APPROVED IN 1991 IN IBERVILLE PARISH
Mr. Edward Songy read the ordinance in entirety.
The floor was opened to comments and questions. Comments and questions from Councilmen Oubre and Reeves which were addressed by Mr. Songy
There being no further business to be conducted, the hearing was adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
